Basic Diesel Engine Maintenance

FALL 2017

    Boat owners see and feel how an oil change is done, where and how to check an impeller for wear, how a dirty fuel or air filter affects engine performance,  what causes an engine to overheat, when belts should be replaced and what parts should be kept on board. How and when do I service my saildrive, sacrificial anodes and drive components A service recommendation check list is included and generous time for questions is allotted.  Classes are devoted to hands-on instruction with printed information. The Basic class has been expanded to a full day of training with a break for lunch

Advanced Diesel Engine Maintenance

Fall 2017

 Owners will receive hand-on instruction in fuel system problem solving using a running engine on the test stand, seawater pump rebuilding, oil leak repairs, electrical system troubleshooting and repair, shaft alignment and underwater running gear servicing and much more. This class will bring out the mechanic in you.  Jim will be showing you all the Tricks of the Trade to give you the best chance for a successful repair or service. A full day of training will include a break for lunch

The one-day seminar will  cover all diesel engines including Yanmar, Westerbeke, Universal diesel engines.

Our small classroom size gives a great one-on-one experience to ensure that each boat owner is able to receive the maximum amount of instruction.

reat Lakes Diesel believes that by instructing boat owners in basic maintenance, they learn to do daily engine checks and are confident in their ability to perform preventative service.
